V&A Waterfront a sought-after investment

Category Area Profile

Based in South Africa's oldest working harbour, the V&A Waterfront is Africa's most visited destination. It is vibrant, central and iconic. It is also home to prime residential opportunities in the shape of luxury apartment living at the V&A Marina.

Completed in 2009, the V&A Marina is the most established residential complex at the V&A, consisting of 515 residential units across 17 buildings, with over 200 boat moorings. All the units are based on the water's edge and are within short walking distance to the main centre.

The Agency Property Group are experts in the Atlantic Seaboard property portfolio, with Co-Founder and Agent Lynn Pinn boasting more than a decade working the Waterfront area. Few people know it better and it's testimony to the Agency that the two properties sold in the area this year were both done so by their team.

"We all know how tough the market has been this year and I think it's important for sellers to understand the value of pricing correctly in this market,'' says Lynn Pinn. ''Having a trusted agent who knows the area well is imperative to not only establishing the correct market related price but also to position and market your property perfectly amongst the various options out there.''

Location is key to residential property at the V&A Waterfront and it is only becoming more attractive for those looking to buy in an established location with a number of recent developments and more planned. These include several impressive new buildings in the Silo District, the Ports Edge conversion into residential units, the extensions to the Two Oceans Aquarium, and the historic Silo Building, which houses the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), and a new green, urban park - Battery Park - connecting the Waterfront to the city through series of scenic pedestrian routes, recreation and retail activities.

Add to that more than 500 retail stores, 85 restaurants, and close proximity to schools, and other essential amenities, and residential property at the V&A Waterfront is as prime as ever. It is also centrally located on the Atlantic Seaboard, close to the city centre, and a myriad of leisure experiences - both at the Waterfront proper and in neighbouring areas like Green Point and Sea Point.

''The Waterfront is still an exceptionally appealing option for many savvy investors,'' says Co-Founder and Agent Simony Santos. ''The location, amenities and security make it a great short-term rental option for overseas travelers as well as an attractive lifestyle option for those looking for a luxury lock up and go. We currently have a few great options on our books.''

Sea Point is close enough to the Cape Town city centre to feed of its hustle and bustle, but far enough away to escape the noise that can come with city living. The sea air and gulls flying overhead are constant reminders that while the CBD is not... More Info
