A step-by-step guide on how to check your latest Municipal Valuation

A number of people have not yet received their updated municipal valuations or are confused about the objection process. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to check your latest municipal valuation as well how to correctly submit an objection.
Visit the City of Cape Town's website - www.capetown.gov.za - then select the following tabs and follow the process below.
1. Select Family & Home.
2. Select Residential Property & Houses.
3. Scroll down and select Property Valuations.
4. Select Current and Upcoming Valuations.
5. Scroll down and select View the GV2018 Roll Online.
6. You can search for your property via Property Reference Number, Erf Number, Sectional Title Scheme, Site Address or Farm.
7. If you are in a Sectional Title building, select the Sectional Title tab and enter your relevant building name (not your unit number), click on search.
8. Look for your relevant unit number and click on the link on the left hand side.
9. Once you have done this there will be options to choose from on the left hand side. If you would like to object to your valuation, click on the dispute form tab in order to download the objection form pertaining to your unit.
10. Email the completed form back to the City of Cape Town at valuationsobjection@capetown. gov.za by Tuesday 30 April 2019.
11. You can also submit objections via the City of Cape Town's e-services portal which is the quickest option.
Remember:
- No late objections will be accepted.
- Objections must be properly motivated.
- Submitting objections via the City of Cape Town's e-services portal is the quickest option.
