SHOWING AREA PROFILE 1 OF 1

De Waterkant at a glance

This popular sub-district of Green Point is a stylish, vibey neighbourhood close to the Cape Town City centre and historic Bo-Kaap area.

One of Cape Town's trendiest areas, De Waterkant is jam-packed with restaurants, bars and shops and is popular with the gay community in the Mother City. While small, the area is well served with its own lifestyle centre, The Cape Quarter, which has a number of restaurants and an upmarket grocery store.

Shopping

The Cape Quarter is not your everyday shopping experience, as here you will find quality over quantity, with boutique stores selling European fashion, fine rugs and designer furniture. The V&A Waterfront is also not far off, with the iconic shopping centre sure to satisfy your every retail need.

Restaurants and bars

The Cuban-themed bar/restaurant, Cubana, has long been a favourite spot in De Waterkant, while there are also a number of top gay and lesbian clubs and bars in the area. There are also a number of wonderful restaurants in the Cape Quarter, with some smaller bistros found around the neighbourhood.

Schools

Reddam House, a well-established private school, is based in Green Point, while there are also a number of foreign language schools located in the CBD.

Hospitals

Cape Town Mediclinic and Christian Barnard Hospital in the Cape Town City Centre are all easily accessible by car.
